Ohio Woman Accused Of Setting Husband On Fire After An Argument About Using Phone

An Ohio woman was accused of setting her husband on fire after an argument with him, authorities said Tuesday.

Tiffany Hall, 36, of Colebrook Township was charged with aggravated arson and felonious assault Tuesday morning after she allegedly threw gasoline on her 62-year-old husband during a domestic dispute.

The man said they were having an argument Sunday about phone usage. At the time, Hall took a bucket of gasoline and threw it on him before setting him on fire, according to a news release from Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office.

The husband suffered extensive burns and ran to a neighbor's house. They doused the fire using a hose. The firefighters who arrived at the scene provided medical care to the victim and he was flown to a hospital.

He remains in stable condition at the hospital, deputies said.

Hall fled the scene in a stolen vehicle before the deputies arrived. Police located the vehicle a short time later and took her into custody.

She was initially charged on one count of felonious assault and receiving stolen property and booked into Ashtabula County Jail.

A court set Hall's bond at $100,000 Tuesday. According to court records, Hall has to undergo a mental health evaluation before getting released. She has also been issued a no-contact order with the victim, Star Beacon reported.

A similar case was reported last month in South Carolina. A man was allegedly set ablaze by his wife after an argument between the couple at a gas station. The victim, identified as Rashad Brown, suffered 58% burns on his body after his wife, Adrian Cain, sprayed gas on him and set him ablaze. The argument between the couple escalated when Brown snatched his wife's phone from her. The victim suffered severe injuries to his legs, back and arms. Cain fled the scene after the incident but was soon taken into custody. She was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
