‘OITNB’ Star Diane Guerrero Shares ‘Superior Donuts’ Scene With Judd Hirsch [PHOTOS]

“Orange is the New Black” star Diane Guerrero’s first photos as Sofia in “Superior Donuts” Season 2 have just been released online.

The snaps, which were exclusively released by Entertainment Weekly, shows Sofia getting under Arthur’s (Judd Hirsch) skin. Sofia is a self-starter who runs a healthy food truck business. She will be parking her truck in front of Arthur’s old-school donut shop, and this is how the two characters would get into a rift.

In the photo, Sofia is wearing a black leather jacket, and her hair is pulled into a bun. She is all smiles while talking to Arthur. He, on the other hand, has a smug look on his face while standing behind the counter in his donut shop.

While speaking with the publication, “Superior Donuts” executive producer Bob Daily explained why they decided to cast Guerrero as a series regular. “Diane was a great fit with our cast from the moment she set foot on our stage. She’s a great antagonist who can get under Judd’s skin, and she also has great chemistry with Jermaine Fowler that could lead to romantic sparks down the line,” he said.

In the second photo, Sofia is having a conversation with Fowler’s character, Franco. The two are laughing hysterically while Sofia has a cup in her hand.

Talking about her role in “Superior Donuts” Season 2, Guerrero revealed that she has already fallen in love with her character. “I love Sofia because she uses her skills to set herself apart and put her stamp on the world. It’s important to represent women in this light… as hard working, thinking and innovative people. People who don’t have a problem with challenging the status quo,” she said.

Meanwhile, Guerrero’s casting in the CBS series could have an impact on her role in Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” according to TV Line. In the show, the actress plays the role of Maritza. However, since “OITNB” won’t premiere until next year, production for Season 6 may not start until 2018. This could mean that Guerrero will continue to appear in both shows, as well as The CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” where she plays the role of Lina.

“Superior Donuts” Season 2 will premiere on CBS on Oct. 30 at 9:30 p.m. EDT.
