The history of Manchester United has been rich with legendary talent donning the colors of the Red Devils. There’s never a shortage of promising talent but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjar emphasized that there’s more than just the football skills he’s looking out for in his players.

Per Sky Sports by way of Red Devil Armada, Solskjaer shared his mindset when scouting for talent that is fit to play for his club. Provided that Solskjaer spent a considerable amount of his playing years with Manchester United, he knows bares importance to what the organization represents.

“I did feel that I was professional and did feel privileged to play for Manchester United,” Solskjaer said.

There are a ton of great players in the transfer market but Solskjaer is looking for someone who is ready to empty their tank for the team they’re representing.

“I wouldn’t be able to look at myself if I didn’t know I’d given everything for my teammates and my manager,” Solskjaer added.

Exerting effort is something that is important for Solskjaer as he himself has reached success as a player with his hard work with Manchester United. The six-time English champion suited up in 365 appearances for the Old Trafford-based squad and scored 127 times in his career.

To add to these, he also assisted in 50 goals as a second striker. The manner he accumulated his accolades was by being a team player and playing within the system.

“That’s what I also now look for in players that we sign or we bring up from the youth team. You have to have a good personality and that you are professional because one rotten apple in the basket will make the others rotten.”

So far the young players of Manchester United have stepped up when they’re called. This is evident in one of their more recent signings, Bruno Fernandes. The 25-year-old midfielder is looking to make a significant impact for the team ever since agreeing to a five-and-a-half-year contract.

In addition to Fernandes, promising players such as Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams are just examples of those who have earned the trust for a first-team breakthrough.

It will be interesting to see how teams move forward with their roster given the plethora of talent across the world. While skills are valuable, the proper attitude and character definitely stand out for Solskjaer and the prestigious Manchester United.
