Oliver Stone's Son, Iran Nuke Supporter, Now Turns to Islam
The son of director Oliver Stone has converted to Islam after filming a documentary in Iran, reports Agence France Presse. Oliver Stone grew up in New York and attended the prestigious prep school, Trinity.
Sean Stone, who gave no reason for his conversion, has taken the name Ali and become a Shiite Muslim after a ceremony in Isfahan, Iran.
The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with. It means I have accepted Mohammad and other prophets, Stone told AFP.
The Stone family has a history of changing religions. Oliver Stone, was born Jewish, raised Episcopalian and is now a practicing Buddhist. Stone's mother is a Chrisitan.
Stone, who graduated from Princeton, has been in Iran since last September where he began a production company to record the culture and history of Iran on film.
Since going there, he has been a staunch supporter of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and has come out in public support of the country having the right to nuclear weapons.
