Olivia Munn's Pregnancy Would Be 'Very Difficult' For John Mulaney's Ex Anna Marie Tendler: Report
KEY POINTS
- John Mulaney's estranged wife Anna Marie Tendler wanted their marriage to work out
- The comedian previously said he didn't want kids when he was still with Tendler
- Mulaney allegedly used Tendler to protect himself before announcing Olivia Munn’s pregnancy
Olivia Munn and John Mulaney are expecting their first child together and the pregnancy news might not be easy for his ex-wife.
Mulaney, 39, confirmed during his appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" Tuesday that he and Munn, 41, are going to be parents soon. However, a source close to his estranged wife, Anna Marie Tendler, spoke about their relationship before their split and felt that the news would not be easy for her.
"Anna Marie knew he was doing things with other women before he went to rehab in December. And his claims to friends that he was trying to protect her before he went away to rehab were rubbish, she didn’t need protecting," the insider told Page Six.
"John was using Anna Marie to protect himself. But still, she was very heartbroken that he decided to end her marriage, she was heartbroken how it went down, it wasn’t something that she wanted, she wanted to work it out. I am sure this news about the pregnancy will be very difficult for her."
When Mulaney and Tendler were together, the former had been very open about not wanting kids. In the 2015 standup special "The Comeback Kid," the comedian opened up about the constant pressure from the people around him to start a family with his then-wife, Tendler.
"Our real estate agent wanted us to have a baby more than anyone else in our lives. More than anyone else in our family," he said, as per Page Six. "She hinted about it constantly. Every room we’d walk into, she’d be like, 'So this could be an office … or maybe a nursery.'"
Mulaney said his estranged wife had to remind the agent that they didn't want kids. However, she continued to double down telling them, "No, no, I know."
"You don’t know if you’re gonna have [kids], but you know, you never know. Sometimes you don’t know what’s gonna happen and then, you know, something happens. … This is an on-fire garbage can. … Could be a nursery," he added while recalling the conversation they had with the agent.
Mulaney and Tendler tied the knot on July 5, 2014. In May, they announced their split. Shortly after their separation, Mulaney and Munn's relationship made the headlines. Several Twitter users were convinced that he cheated on his wife with the "X-Men: Apocalypse" star. But based on his statement in his latest interview with Meyers, he and Tendler broke up before he met and dated Munn.
"It isn’t entirely clear when their relationship started. There have been rumors for months about her being pregnant, and it all just seems like a very tight timeline," a source told Page Six.
