Olivia Newton-John's ex-boyfriend, Patrick McDermott faked his death, when he disappeared during a fishing trip off the California coast in June of 2005.

Reports that he may have drowned may not be true and that he is likely to be alive.

He's alive – there's no doubt in my mind, this guy's alive, lead investigator Philip Klein said.

Investigator believes that the former cameraman designed this whole act of vanishing, in order to run away from his debts, and also to let his son have the benefit of a $100,000 life-insurance policy.

ABC News reports that a team of private investigators, hired by NBC's Dateline hunting for McDermott believes he's hiding out off the coast of Mexico. We believe he is between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco, lead investigator Philip Klein said.

Olivia has since moved on and married business man John Easterling in the summer of 2008 after dating Patrick for nine years.
