Olsen Twins 'Done With Acting': Twitter Users Mock Them
The Olsen twins getting harsh treatment on Twitter after they told Elle UK they're giving up on acting to focus on their fashion empire.
I don't have to be a pretty face. I've done that, but now it's important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don't like to be the center of attention anymore, Ashley Olsen told the magazine, which hits stores tomorrow, iVillage.com reported. It doesn't mean I'm not interested in Hollywood, she clarified. I like the way it operates, I like the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever get back in, it's not going to be as an actress.
In the interview, Ashley Olsen says she and twin Mary-Kate are perfectionists and want to focus on their fashion lines.
We've always wanted to be closely involved with everything, totally hands on-that's why it works. If we step away, it stops working. I know it sounds controlling, but that's how it has to be, Ashley Olsen says in the interview, according to EOnline.com.
Ashley continued, We worked non-stop until we were 18. Then we decided to take a break and go to school -- and that was when we decided to question whether we would carry on in entertainment, UsMagazine.com reported.
The twins achieved stardom as infants when they took turns as Michelle on TV's Full House.
Mary-Kate and Ashley are on dual covers for the UK version of Elle.
Twitter users mocked the famous twins on the micro-blogging site.
Olsen twins quit acting. I don't believe it was your choice, girls, said @funnyMike.
I thought they were done after Full House?, tweeted @shannonowens.
Mary-Kate's last film appearance was in 2011's Beastly, while Ashley Olsen hasn't been in front of the camera since she teamed up with her twin in 2004's New York Minute.
The twins' younger sister, Elizabeth Olsen, has overshadowed them when it comes to acting lately.
Elizabeth Olsen starred in last year's critically acclaimed Martha Marcy May Marlene and is cast in Silent House, which premieres Friday.
