‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 4 Spoilers: Winter Finale Synopsis Released Online; What Will Happen In Episode 11? [PHOTOS & VIDEO]
Prepare to say goodbye to “Once Upon a Time.” Storybrooke may be safe from the spell of shattered sight, but they’re not safe from ABC’s winter hiatus. Season 4 will be taking a couple weeks' break – but not before an action-packed winter finale.
Episode 11, titled “Heroes and Villains,” will find viewers “letting go” of the “Frozen” storyline. While Elsa (Georgina Haig), Anna (Elizabeth Lail) and the rest of their Arendelle friends played a big part in the first half of Season 4, the midseason finale will be making way for some new characters to storm the town. But who can fans look forward to seeing? Some villains! “Sleeping Beauty’s” Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten), “The Little Mermaid’s” Ursula (Merrin Dungey) and “101 Dalmatian’s” Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit) will all be arriving in Storybrooke to stir up some trouble for our favorite fairytale characters.
According to the synopsis, the townsfolk will be trying to “pick up the pieces” after the Snow Queen’s (Elizabeth Mitchell) spell was broken. The spell was initially created to destroy the Storybrooke residents, but Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Elsa and Anna were able to convince the Snow Queen to end the powerful magic before someone got killed. But just because no one (except the Snow Queen) died, doesn’t mean that everyone is OK. Regina (Lana Parrilla) will be forced to “make a difficult choice.”
The episode description doesn’t explain what Regina’s “difficult choice” will be; however, it’s a safe bet to assume that it has something to do with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire). Despite the return of Marian (Christie Laing), Robin Hood can’t deny his feelings for Regina. The former evil queen has tried her best to do the right thing now that his wife is alive in present day, but the pair encountered a few hiccups – like Marian getting frozen alive by the Snow Queen. Now that the Snow Queen is dead, Marian could potentially unfreeze … and that would mean that Robin Hood would have to choose once and for all if he wants to be with his wife or Regina.
Regina won’t be the only one in a tough spot during the winter finale. “Once Upon a Time” fans will remember that Gold (Robert Carlyle) has Hook’s (Colin O’Donoghue) heart. The synopsis teases that the pirate’s life will hang in the balance as “Gold’s quest for power threatens everything he holds dear.”
Finally, a flashback to the Enchanted Forest will show viewers a time when Belle (Emilie de Ravin) was staying at Rumplestiltskin’s castle. An intrusion that occurs during her stay will not only “wreak havoc” in the past … but also in the future.
The “Once Upon a Time” Season 4 winter finale will air on ABC on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m. EST.
