ONE 164 is set to have a ton of exciting fights on the main card, and the lead card is promising an exciting night of fights ahead with a set of fights that involved Filipino standouts Jenelyn Olsim and Jhanlo Mark Sangiao at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines on Saturday, December 3.
In the show-opener, local women's atomweight star Olsim and Meng Bo's clash lived up to the potential that fans saw after their war of words at the ceremonial weigh-ins with the latter taking home the victory in stunning fashion with a first-round TKO.
Both fighters were hesitant to trade blows initially, but it was Meng who took advantage in the lull, instantly dropping Olsim with a right-hand bomb to the jaw and following it up with the ground-and-pound to secure the victory in just 24 seconds.
"I would like to have the match again with Olsim. I would love to fight her again," Meng declared through a translator during her post-fight interview in the cage.
With the victory, Meng ended her two-fight losing streak and improved her record to 20-6.
Meanwhile, Olsim dropped her second match in four fights with a downgraded slate of 6-4.
To close out the lead card, ONE Warrior Series Philippines alum Anacleto "L.A." Lauron fought the progeny of Team Lakay mentor Mark Sangiao, Jhanlo, in the first instance of local talent taking on a fellow Filipino on the card.
Lauron, fighting in his ONE Championship debut, declined to exchange pleasantries with Sangiao after the opening bell and quickly found himself being taken down to the ground by his opponent in front of a packed crowd.
Sangiao sought to make Lauron pay for his action and quickly did so as he transitioned from position to position, eventually locking in the rear-naked choke on Lauron early in the first round.
His efforts would not go unnoticed as he was awarded a $50,000 performance bonus.
Other fights on the lead card saw a flyweight Muay Thai clash between Tagir Khalilov and Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi, which the former won in an explosive first-round TKO.
On the other hand, Lara Fernandez defeated Thailand's Dangkongfah Banchamek by split decision in an exciting showcase of women's atomweight Muay Thai action.
Khalilov also earned himself a $50,000 performance bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
