Zayn Malik slammed over Instagram photo

One Direction fans are not happy former member Zayn Malik is moving on following his split from Perrie Edwards. On Sunday, the 22-year-old singer posted a black-and-white photo of himself with his arm around a mystery blonde, causing fans to lash out at him.

Malik didn't caption the picture or reveal who the woman is, but it's clear they were definitely enjoying each other's company. Immediately several fans flooded the Instagram post with nasty comments bashing Malik for moving on so quickly after ending his engagement to Edwards last month.

"Ew. He's such an a--hole," one fan commented. "What the f--- zaynnn," another posted in the comments section. Another One Direction fan simply wrote that "zerrie,” -- a combination of Malik and Edwards' first names -- should get back together.

Malik has had a whirlwind couple of months. In March, he announced his departure from One Direction and on Aug. 4 news broke he had split from Edwards. According to a report by People at the time, the Little Mix singer was "devastated" by the breakup. A source also told the magazine it seemed like the split came out of nowhere, with Malik calling Edwards to tell her it was over between them. Neither Malik nor Edwards, who got engaged in August 2013 after a year of dating, ever publicly explained what led to their split.

As previously reported, a few fans thought the unknown woman in Malik's Instagram photo was "Teen Wolf" actress Gage Golightly, but she denied it. "Hi everyone just wanted to clarify that I am not the girl in the photo with Zayn Malik," Golightly wrote on her Instagram page. "But what a lucky girl! Love y’all!” Malik has also been romantically linked to model Neelam Gill, but the rumors haven't been confirmed.

While it seems the former boy band singer is moving on following the split, Edwards is rumored to be having a tougher time letting go. Last month, the 22-year-old Little Mix singer broke down in tears on stage while singing the girl group's breakup song "The End."
