One Direction Releases New Song ‘Drag Me Down’ After Zayn Malik 'Real Music' Diss: Listen Here
One Direction appears to be poised to head in a new direction. The four remaining members of the U.K. boy band -- Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson -- released their first new song, “Drag Me Down,” on Friday.
“Drag Me Down” is the first since member Zayn Malik left the band in March. The song comes a day after Malik announced that he has signed to RCA and that he left the band to make "real music."
Styles and Payne each posted individual videos of themselves announcing the video. “Hi, it’s Liam here from One Direction. Just a little secret for you, our new single “Drag Me Down” has just been released, get it now,” Payne tells fans in the video.
One Direction last released an album on Nov. 17, 2014, when they put out "Four," which had the singles "Steal My Girl" and "Night Changes." The band's fifth studio album will be released in November, according to an E! News report, and they are currently on tour in the United States.
The band got their start in 2010 when they finished third in the U.K. singing competition "The X-Factor." They have gone on to sell millions of records and each album has gone platium.
The brand-new song is available to be streamed on Spotify or purchased on iTunes.
