“One Piece” Chapter 988 dropped over the weekend and it confirmed the burgeoning war in the Land of Wano. The chapter revealed the Minks tribe in their Sulong form committed to defeating Jack and other members of the Beast Pirates. Interestingly, some fans may have overlooked it, but there was a betrayal within the Straw Hats.

As pointed out by Comicbook, the betrayal was committed by Zeus, Big Mom’s thundercloud. Charlotte Linlin knows that she could easily defeat any opponents if the thundercloud homie that she summons on her left hand is there. ”One Piece” Chapter 988 showed that while Big Mom was trying to get Zeus back, Nami tried to rescue him and emphasized that he has to make a choice.

Big Mom got her hands back on Zeus and the thundercloud decided that it is time to return to Big Mom, his original maker and master. "I'm sorry, Nami! Die," Zeus exclaimed before turning against the Straw Hats Pirates. Nami was furious about the thundercloud’s decision and promised Zeus they would never be friends.

Nami and Brook used Zeus against Charlotte Linlin in the Whole Cake Island arc. They forced the thundercloud homie to discharge all his power. When he was greatly weakened, the Soul King captured him and Nami persuaded him to be her servant.

Following the Straw Hats’ escape from Totto Land, Nami revealed to the crew that she keeps Zeus in her Clima-tact. Zeus apparently did not mind working for Nami as he enjoys her delicious Black Balls and Weather Egg snacks. Zeus’ betrayal of the Straw hats is not surprising, considering that he is a part of Big Mom, was coerced by Nami and technically not a member of Straw Hats.

In “One Piece” Chapter 989 he would be sliced in half by Brook and would be drained of electricity by Nami. Zeus’s size would reportedly be reduced enough that he can now be held in one hand. His face is now adequate to cover much of his body. What happens to Zeus would most likely be revealed in “One Piece” Chapter 989. The upcoming chapter would have a weeklong hiatus and would return on September 6.
