The most recent episode of the hit series "One Piece" is bittersweet but it also hints at the imminent deaths of two legendary pirates.
"One Piece" anime continues to show crucial details in the history of the series with the latest episode revealing one of the most important flashbacks that impact the current state not only of Wano Kuni but also of the world. Fans travel along with Kozuki Oden as he explores the vast sea first with Whitebeard and finally with the Pirate King himself, Gol D. Roger.
Oden's last voyage with the Roger Pirates underlined that he is instrumental in developing the events in Wano and uncovering the secrets the World Government deliberately concealed. Fans saw Roger and his crew reach the last island unvisited for the last 800 years and learned about the Will of D, the Void Century, and many more. In the end, Roger named the island Laugh Tale with the scene showing him and his entire crew laughing so hard they cry.
Roger's time is limited with his days numbered because of a debilitating sickness and it is one of the major factors that pushed him to reach Laugh Tale as soon as he can. Conquering the last island made Roger the Pirate King but it also marked the end of his journey. After disbanding his crew, Roger heads to his death in Loguetown.
Unknown to Kozuki Oden, his fate is not different from Gol D. Roger. Going home to Wano, Oden received the bad news that would soon lead to the events of his demise. His father, the Shogun of Wano is already dead and Orochi took his seat in running the closed country. The current Shogun found an ally in Kaido with the both of them working to transform the beautiful country into a wasteland that it is today.
Roger's death marked the dawn of the great pirate era while Oden's heartbreaking demise opened the eyes of the samurai that led to the current Onigashima War. The recent "One Piece" episode is short, sad, sweet and heartbreaking. "One Piece" Episode 970 is set to release on April 18.
