“One Piece” Chapter 988 is still a few days away from its official release but fans were treated over the weekend with another explosive episode of the anime. For several episodes, fans saw the Straw Hats’ captain training making use of his time inside the Udon Prison to become a lot stronger. Hyogoro showed Luffy what Ryuo or Haki in the Land of Wano is like and taught him how to use it. The former yakuza boss explained that Ryuo, which literally means flowing sakura could be used like an invisible armor for defense and could also be used in offense. This kind of haki has a particular level that could allow its user to penetrate the interior of the enemy and destroy the opponent from the inside out.

Luffy tried to imitate what Hyogoro did but failed to achieve the new power because he was angry. According to the former yakuza boss, ryuo would not flow on an angry fist, which means the Straw Hats’ captain has to be more patient to learn the new power. As the meaning of the name suggests, ryuo is a flowing sakura and until Luffy understands that concept, he will never be able to use the ryuo.

“One Piece” Chapter 988 is set to arrive on August 23 while the anime, “One Piece” episode 938 would drop hopefully on the same day.
