OnePlus 3 Has Been Discontinued But Will Soon Synchronize Software Updates With OnePlus 3T

OnePlus has confirmed that it has no plans to restock the OnePlus 3 following the announcement of the OnePlus 3T this week. However, the Chinese phone maker has promised that both handsets will soon receive software updates at the same time.

When the OnePlus 3T was announced earlier this week, there was a lot of uncertainty on whether OnePlus will continue the OnePlus 3. The company later confirmed the OP3 has been discontinued in both the United States and in European countries, as reported by Android Authority.

The OnePlus 3 was released just this past June, and now it’s being replaced by the OnePlus 3T. This is the main reason why a lot of users are already worried about the future of the OP3 in terms of support. This is why OnePlus has clarified that both the OP3 and the OP3T will soon be synchronized in terms of software updates.

When the OnePlus 3T is launched, it won’t be running the same version of OxygenOS found on the OP3. OxygenOS is the Chinese manufacturer’s own software that runs on top of Android. OnePlus says that it will take a few weeks before both handsets will be running the same exact version of OxygenOS.

The company has even promised that both devices will be receiving the Android Nougat update at the same time before the year is out. Once both handsets are running the same exact software, they will also share the same software update cycle moving forward, according to 9To5Google.

With the announcement of the OnePlus 3T, it has frustrated some customers who already bought the OnePlus 3 earlier this year. Although the 3T appears to be the superior from the two, OP3 is still a formidable handset.
