OnePlus 3 Rumors: Co-Founder Hints End Of Invitation System
OnePlus is expected to unleash the OnePlus 3 flagship smartphone by the end of second quarter to succeed last year’s OnePlus 2. One of the recent tweets by Carl Pei, the co-founder of the company, has hinted that there won’t be an invitation system to purchase the OnePlus 3 smartphone.
In the previous year, OnePlus had teased several features of OnePlus 2 before its official announcement. This year too, a lot has been revealed about the speculated variants of OnePlus 3 and its renders. However, nothing much is known as to how the company will plan to sell its flagship smartphone this year because Pei had revealed through an interview earlier this year that the OnePlus 3 would be available with a better buying process.
Previously, OnePlus only allowed payments through PayPal. However, the company will also support receiving payments through credit cards for OnePlus 3.
OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 smartphones were initially made available for purchase through the company’s infamous invitation system. However, a recent tweet from Pei hints that the company may drop the invitation program for buying OnePlus 3. On Weibo, the CEO of the firm, Pete Lau, has posted that this year’s flagship ‘feels good to hold’ in the hand.
Pei has also confirmed that the OnePlus 3 boasts a captivating new design. It will be directly sold in the U.S. and it other markets it will be released as unlocked smartphone.
Rumors have it that the OnePlus 3 will arrive in two storage editions of 32 GB and 64 GB that will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset. The 32 GB OnePlus 3 is expected to feature 4 GB of RAM and it will be priced around $310. On the other side, the 64 GB variant is pegged to include 6 GB of RAM and it is expected to cost $385.
Other rumored specs of OnePlus 3 include 5.5-inch screen, 16-megapixel rear camera, front-facing camera of 8-megapixel and 3,000 to 3,500 mAh battery. The positions of the 3.5 mm headphone slot, external speakers and camera flash are also expected to get reshuffled on OnePlus 3, Gadgets 360 reported.
