OnePlus 7 Pro 5G Won't Receive This Year's Latest Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 Update
While Samsung and the other Android OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are still working on their Android 10 update, Chinese smartphone firm OnePlus has already updated its two flagship smartphones: the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. The latest Android 10 update brings a number of new features, including an integrated step counter and a major app drawer enhancement.
Unfortunately, the latest Android 10 update will miss one member of the 7 series phone, the 5G variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro. In a recent post at the OnePlus Community forum, Global Community Manager David Yu officially confirmed to the media that the latest Android 10 update will be released to OnePlus 7 Pro 5G EE variant in the first quarter of 2020.
It's a little disappointing to see that the 5G smartphone will miss this year's latest Android 10 update, while its siblings, the 4G-only OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, have already received the update just last month. Even the older version of the OnePlus smartphones, the OnePlus 6 and 6T, are also set to receive the stable Android 10 update next month, per a recent Android Authority report.
In the meantime, while waiting for Android updates, check out this latest OnePlus 7 Pro deal on the official OnePlus US online store. TechRadar posted earlier that all 8GB RAM/256GB storage versions of the 7 Pro flagship device will get a discount of up to $50. This will reduce the original price tag, from $699 to $649. However, the 12GB/256GB variant won't get any price changes. Instead, it will stick to its original $749 price tag.
In addition to the OnePlus US online store, the OnePlus's Canadian online store is also selling the same 8GB/256GB storage variants of the 7 Pro. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variants are selling for CAD $873, discounted by CAD $66, while the 12GB RAM variant won't get any price changes.
Some of the notable features of the OnePlus 7 Pro include a 4K video capture at 60fps, 4000mAh battery, 16-megapixel pop-up front camera setup, 48MP + 8MP + 16MP main camera, support for USB-C charging, support for Warp Charge 3.0, and support for UFS 3.0 storage.
