Parody publication The Onion Inc. announced that it is expanding its offline publications by opening a new bureau in the nation's capital today.

On Thursday the paper said that will be partnering with The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO) for printing, distribution, and local-advertising sales, but will retain full editorial control of the newspaper.

The Washington Post Company has a fantastic business team, making them a natural partner, said Onion president Sean Mills.

The paper anticipates circulation of 100,000 in the city, which will make it the largest weekly publication in Washington DC.

Founded in 1988, The Onion prints satirical articles on international and local events.
