Opossum Commutes by New York Subway
Passengers on board a Bronx-bound D-Train were forced to evacuate after one suspicious passenger refused to leave the train.
The suspect alarmed many of the passengers after they found it curled underneath the seat, warming up next to the radiator, its tail a clear indication that it could do harm if provoked.
That's right, an opossum decided to catch a ride on the inter-borough train, reports The New York Times. The furry creature boarded the train sometime after it left the Coney Island station early Friday morning.
Passengers were evacuated from the train at the West 4th Street Station, where officials tried to remove the opossum from the train but were greeted with aggression when it bared its teeth and snarled. The train was then brought to a subway yard in the Bronx where the creature was removed by Animal Care and Control agents.
This is not the first time an animal has found its way onto the subway. Rats, turtles and pigeons have also traveled the underground trains.
