Oprah Winfrey: Final show ratings break records
According to a number of reports, the final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show was the highest rated episode of the hit daytime talk show in more than 17 years.
According to The Wrap, the episode received a 13.3 household rating in overnight metered markets, its best rating since the 13.4 for a February 21, 1994 episode titled 'People Shed Their Disguises.'
It will take approximately two weeks to tally the total number of viewers.
In the 1994 shedding disguises episode, Oprah featured people where were letting go of different methods that altered their appearance. For example, she featured a make-up addict who was trying to use less, as well as a man saying goodbye to his toupee, according to The Wrap.
Oprah said goodbye to her show after 25 years of being on air on Wednesday April 25. Even though Oprah left the day time talk show, her legacy and media empire will live on as she will now focus on improve the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), the cable channel that launched in January.
To close the episode, Oprah did not say goodbye to her audience, but rather, until we meet again.
