‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 4 Spoilers: 4 Things We Learned From The New Promo Photos
The ladies of Litchfield are back! On Thursday, Netflix released new images from Season 4 of “Orange Is the New Black” — and it has us counting down the days until we can reunite with our favorite Netflix convicts.
But until the prison drama airs its anticipated Season 4 premiere on Friday, June 17, here’s everything we learned about the upcoming installment through the tantalizing new pictures.
1. Alex Is Alive
Viewers were left uncertain of Alex’s (Laura Prepon) fate when she was cornered by Kubra’s (Eyas Younis) hitman in the Season 3 finale of “OITNB.” See, Alex had been fearing for her life ever since she snitched on her former boss, the murderous drug lord, in court during Season 2 of the Netflix series.
But it appears Kubra’s hitman, who was posing as a Litchfield guard, didn’t end up putting a bullet through her head. Instead, fans of Piper’s (Taylor Schilling) ex-girlfriend can see Alex alive and, well ... not so well in the Season 4 promo photo.
2. Judy King Is The Queen Of Litchfield
Judy King (Blair Brown), the Martha Stewart of “OITNB,” was found guilty of tax-evasion in the show’s third season. Although it was announced that she was serving her sentence at a prison other than Litchfield, Judy self-surrendered herself to the upstate Penitentiary in the season 3 finale — a wise decision made by Judy. In the promo photo, she’s seen smiling with Poussey (Samira Wiley), proving that making friend behind bars wasn’t so hard for this convicted red carpet chef.
3. Sophia Is In The Shu
Sophia (Laverne Cox) is still serving her time in solitary, according to the promo photo — and she’s without her beloved weave and lacking her Sophia-like radiance. That’s because she was unjustly forced into the SHU “for her own safety” after being wrongly attacked by inmates in Season 3 of “OITNB.”
4. Drama For Piper
Things aren’t only looking grim for Sophia. Piper will also experience a traumatic incident in Season 4 of the Netflix series when she’s gaged and bound in the kitchen of Litchfield. Held down by Blanca (Laura Gomez), Piper is seen screaming as her hand is about to either be branded or smashed with a blunt-looking item.
Could this have something to do with the impending "unprecedented culture war" occurring throughout Litchfield? According to the synopsis of the new season, "OITNB" will delve into the "racial and economic tensions that run rampant" in the prison.
“Orange Is the New Black” will stream on Netflix on Friday, June 17, at 3:01 a.m. EDT.
