A 15-year-old girl in North Bend, Oregon, was caught on camera placing a vaping device in an infant’s mouth.

In a press release, the police department said that the video, which was reported to North Bend High School’s resource officer Monday, involved “a juvenile teen placing an inhalant delivery system (vape device) into an 8-month-old infant's mouth.”

The 15-year-old suspect was babysitting the infant at a home in North Bend last weekend when the incident took place. The teen was detained for questioning.

Police Chief Robert Kappelman said the incident was reported to the Department of Human Services Child Protective Services.

“The investigation into this incident is ongoing … We want to thank those who reported the incident to our school staff, our SRO and our department. It was this quick reporting that led to a prompt investigation and identification of those involved,” the press release said. Investigation into the incident was ongoing.

The incident comes a month after a teen babysitter in Pennsylvania was charged with child endangerment for letting a toddler inhale from a vape. The two-year-old toddler managed to get hold of a vape pen from a nightstand. However, instead of taking the device from the toddler, the 17-year-old female babysitter let the toddler inhale from it. An 18-year-old friend of the babysitter, who was also present at the scene, recorded the toddler taking an inhale and posted the video of Snapchat.
