‘The Originals’ Season 2 Spoilers: Who Died In Episode 14? A Mikaelson Meets Their Shocking Fate [RECAP]
It’s a nice day for a wolf wedding. Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Jackson (Nathan Parsons) finally tied the knot in episode 14 of “The Originals.” But like every major event in the hit CW series, it wasn’t without it’s fair share of drama.
Before vows were exchanged and powers were distributed, “I Love You, Goodbye” focused on the aftermath of the farmhouse explosion (which took place in episode 13). Following the fiery blast, Cami (Leah Pipes) hit the road with little Hope in search for refuge. That’s when she ran into Elijah (Daniel Gillies), who was looking pretty beat up after walking through flames for his family -- literally.
While the trio decided to head home (back to the Mikaelson residence), Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was on his way to pay Jackson a visit. But Klaus didn’t arrive empty-handed to the home of his baby momma’s future husband. He came bearing gifts -- an early wedding present so to speak.
“You brought me a bag of werewolf heads?” Jackson said to Klaus. That’s right -- to show his respect Klaus decapitated a few traitorous werewolves, who he called “witch sympathizers,” and offered them as a token to Jackson before proposing his home as a venue for Jackson and Hayley’s wedding.
“Am I crazy or did he do his version of a nice thing?” Jackson pondered after Klaus disappeared from the bayou.
That’s when episode 14 cut to a shot of Freya (Riley Voelkel) examining the dead body of Finn (Yusuf Gatewood) in the morgue. After she examined the gruesome remains of her brother, she began a spell -- one that resulted in giving Kol (Daniel Sharman) a nasty nosebleed. Next thing viewers see is a Finn rising from the dead.
So, did Kol (who was creating his own magic with Davina [Danielle Campbell] at the time of the nosebleed occurred) reveal what caused the blood to rush from his nose? Nope. Instead he reached out to Rebekah (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) for help.
Kol and Rebekah weren’t the only ones rekindling their relationship in episode 14. After nearly eating his boyfriend, Josh (Steven Krueger) and Aiden (Colin Woodell) found a way to come to put the past behind them. But despite Aiden not faulting his boyfriend for almost killing him (it was Finn's doing after all), he decided to break things off.
“I think we need a time out,” Aiden said, adding that the only reason he wanted to break up was to keep Josh safe from the mayhem that could potentially occur. However, after having a heart-to-heart with Jackson, Aiden realized that he might have made a mistake.
“We’ve got no chance at winning this fight without something to fight for,” Jackson said, causing Aiden to rethink his split from Josh.
While Aiden decided to patch things up with his vampy beau, Klaus delivered an early wedding gift to the blushing bride: their daughter. Hayley was ecstatic to see little Hope -- and more so to introduce her baby to her soon-to-be stepfather.
While Hayley and Jackson gushed over Hope’s attendance, Klaus decided to have a chat with Elijah. He warned his brother not interfere with Hayley’s wedding seeing as though the marriage would be beneficial to the family. But Elijah doesn’t want the love of his life to be bullied into a marriage for political reasons.
At that moment Elijah decided to pay Hayley a visit and was completely smitten at the sight of her all dolled up and donning a white dress. “You look perfect,” he said, before diving into a confession of his true feelings for her. But before Elijah was able to utter a word, Hayley stopped him. “I just want to be happy,” she said, cutting him off.
Next thing viewers saw was Hayley and Jackson happily walking down the aisle, beginning the unification ceremony that would strengthen their pack by Hayley sharing her unique gifts with the wolves.
Elijah watched from afar -- trying hard to keep it together. He even diverted his eyes when Hayley and Jackson sealed the ceremony with a passionate kiss. It was then that Elijah noticed Klaus had something up his sleeve -- something terrible.
Klaus revealed now that the unification ceremony had been completed, he had no used for Jackson anymore. But Elijah couldn’t bare the thought of killing Hayley’s husband the night of their wedding.
“You want Jackson dead just as much as I do. In fact, I think you want it more,” Klaus teased. That’s when Elijah rebutted that the real reason Klaus wanted Jackson six feet under was because he was afraid Jackson would be a better father to Hope.
So, to prove Elijah wrong, Klaus toasted the new, happy couple -- even welcoming Jackson to live with his bride and their daughter in his home. “Welcome to the family, mate,” he said with a sly smile.
But the episode didn’t end on the happiest of notes. After the wedding Kol approached Davina, revealing the reason he never made it to the ceremony. “I’m running out of time,” he said, explaining to her that he had been cursed with black magic by Finn.
Davina quickly sprung into action, attempting to reverse the mark with Rebekah. But Kol knew it was no use. Instead he spent his final moments slow dancing with Davina in the cemetery -- that is, until a coughing fit interrupted them.
Just as Kol had accepted his fate, his siblings came to pay him a visit. “Always and forever isn’t something you weasel out of,” Klaus said. But even the power of three Mikaelson’s and a witch couldn’t save Kol from dying. Before he passed, Rebekah promised that she would find a way to resurrect him.
Just as Kol’s soul left his body, Finn regained his thanks to a resurgence spell by Freya. When he woke, Freya explained that they would have to stick together now that Dahlia was on the hunt for Hope.
“Dahlia will come. And she will take what’s hers,” she revealed, hinting that they might get burned in the crossfire.
