‘The Originals’ Spoilers: Is Hayley A Love Interest For Elijah In ‘Vampire Diaries’ Spinoff? [PHOTOS]

“Vampire Diaries” viewers know very well that Original vampire brothers have an interest in the same women. So will the spinoff series, “The Originals,” take the brothers down a similar path? That’s one of the theories surrounding the new CW series.

Thanks to “The Vampire Diaries” we know that Katherine was linked to both Klaus and Elijah while she was human. Klaus only wanted Katherine for her doppelganger blood, but Elijah formed a close relationship with her and was desperate to protect her from his brother. Unfortunately Katherine betrayed both brothers when she manipulated another vampire into turning her. On the run for centuries, she was finally able to rekindle her romance with Elijah, but their new love was cut short in season 4 when Elijah told her that he was leaving her to be with his family in New Orleans.

And it turns out that Katherine wasn’t the only gal to get entangled with the Original vampires. In mid-June we reported that “The Originals” was looking to cast a “stunning Creole woman” name Celeste. In the 1800s Celeste had a relationship with Klaus, but developed a “fondness” for Elijah when Klaus was too busy “keeping the resident of New Orleans in check.”

With Hayley and her pregnancy now thrown into the mix – will she find herself at the center of Klaus and Elijah? According to executive producer Julie Plec, Hayley is “by no means the Cinderella in the Klaus love story.”

“Hayley is a girl who is pretty tough, fiery independent spirit. A survivor in her own right who got drunk, had sex and got knocked up,” Plec continued. “So she’s going to have her own journey. She’s not really meant to sort of be a threat to Klaus’ love life. If anything, she is sort of the portal into his redemption – one would hope.”

One of the fears is that once Hayley has Klaus’ baby she’ll become disposable. Elijah already saved her life once by convincing his brother to protect her from the witches, so it wouldn’t come as too much of a surprise if he’s the one to continues to fight on her team.

What further fuels this theory is that Elijah appears to be standing in between Klaus and Hayley in new photos from episode 2, “Always and Forever.” Another photo of him holding her face in the witches den also appears to be pretty intimate.

“The Originals” premieres on the CW on Oct. 3. The show will then move to its permanent spot on Tuesday nights. Check out the photos and let us know your thoughts on a potential Hayley and Elijah romance.
