On Tuesday, January 24, the nominations for the 84th Academy Awards will be announced.

The announcements will take place at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverley Hills, California. The ceremony will be hosted by Jennifer Lawrence, star of the forthcoming film The Hunger Games and Tom Sherak, the President of the Academy.

The hot favorites to receive nominations are The Descendants for the Best Motion Picture; Meryl Streep for Best Actress; and George Clooney for the Best Actor.

The Oscars ceremony, where the prestigious awards will be handed out, will take place on February 26, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, and will be hosted by actor Billy Crystal.
