‘Outlander’ Season 2 Spoilers: Annalise Says Jamie Is A Changed Man In Sneak-Peek Videos From Episode 5

“Outlander” Season 2 has been introducing plenty of new characters. One of them is Jamie’s ex, Annalise, who has apparently noticed a big change in the Highlander. The Frenchwoman will chat with Claire in episode 5 of the Starz series, and a sneak peek shows the tense conversation. It seems Annalise thinks Claire has had some major influence over Jamie.

Sneak Peek No. 1

Claire (Caitriona Balfe) tells Annalise (Margaux Chatelier) that Scotland isn’t much simpler than Paris. Their political manipulation is just as complex. Annalise is surprised that Jamie (Sam Heughan) would ever be involved in such situations. “James was never a man for intrigue, at least not in those days,” Annalise says. “He was direct, honest, simple.”

“I wouldn’t call Jamie simple,” Claire says.

Annalise says it is sad how he has changed. Now he is a serious businessman, just like all the other men in her life. Claire defends her husband. “He is still Jamie,” she reasons. “I doubt he will ever lose sight of who he truly is at heart.”

“When I knew him, he was a boy. You’ve turned him into a man,” Annalise says. Claire looks just a little proud at that statement.

Sneak Peek No. 2

In the next clip, Jamie makes it clear that he isn’t so simple. He even has a sensitive side. He asks Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) what’s wrong. Murtagh knows he failed Jamie, even though his boss says he didn’t.

“You gave me your trust, your wife and your child unborn to guard. And that wee English lassie,” Murtagh. He is, of course, referring to the men who attacked Claire, Mary (Rosie Day) and himself. He was knocked out, and Mary was raped. Murtagh blames himself for the situation, and he says he won’t forgive himself.

“Then you keep after him,” Jamie orders. “St. Germain is behind this, and we need to connect him to the gang.”

That order gives Murtagh a sense of purpose. “I will lay just vengeance at your feet,” Murtagh says.

Sneak Peek No. 3

While Jamie comforts a friend, Claire does the same for someone else. Claire sneaks into Mary’s house to check on her. Mary’s uncle won’t let her out of the house and wants her to leave Paris as soon as possible. Luckily, Claire convinced Mary’s aunt to let her give Mary a medical exam.

The teenager asks Claire to deliver a letter for her. “Will you do me the favor of delivering this to the authorities at the Bastille?” Mary asks. “It’s details of the attack, explaining Alex’s innocence.”

Mary is clearly upset that the events have been misinterpreted. She cares for Alex (Laurence Dobiesz) a great deal. “Alex is a good man with a kind heart,” she tells Claire.
