Balfe plays Claire, the 20th century nurse who travels back in time and falls in love with 18th century Highlander Jamie (Heughan) on “Outlander.” The Starz drama has earned plenty of love from the Golden Globes over the past four seasons. In Season 1, the show was nominated for best drama and best supporting actor (Tobias Menzies) in addition to Balfe’s nod for best actress. Ever since, however, only Balfe has been nominated each year.
Though she has yet to win, Balfe still seems very excited about her fourth nomination. She took to Twitter to express her gratitude and congratulated her competition. She is nominated against Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Golden Globes host Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), Keri Russell (“The Americans”) and her “Money Monster” co-star Julia Roberts (“Homecoming”). She also gave a shoutout to the cast and crew of “Outlander.”
Mostly, thank you to my incredible fellow actors and the wonderful team of writers, producers and crew on @Outlander_STARZ that push me to my best. #GoldenGlobeAwards 😘😘😘

If Balfe wins this year, it will be the first Golden Globe for the TV series.
“Outlander” Season 4 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on Starz.
