Sam Heughan made the leap to the big screen last weekend with “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” and his smalls screen colleagues are congratulating him on his success. Several of his friends from Starz’s “Outlander” reached out to him about the movie.

Caitriona Balfe told fans early Tuesday morning that she loved the comedy. “Just saw @SpyWhoDumpedMe .... @SamHeughan knocked it out of the park,” Balfe wrote on Twitter. “And #MilaKunis and #KateMcKinnon are two seriously funny, talented women that I need to go on a night out with.”

The “Outlander” star encouraged fans to go buy tickets to “The Spy Who Dumped Me.” Heughan and Balfe, who play married couple Jamie and Claire on the historical drama, are particularly supportive of each other on social media. When Balfe was running the London marathon, Heughan sent several encouraging tweets.

Meanwhile, writer Diana Gabaldon, who penned the “Outlander” novels, also had positive things to say. “Saw it this afternoon! Amazing choreography and hilarious acting (so much more fun than working...)! @SamHeughan #MilaKunis #KateMcKinnon worked together like a trio of crazed billiard balls,” she wrote.

“Nobody does it better, Sheugs!” she added after Heughan thanked her.

Sophie Skelton, who plays Heughan’s daughter on the Starz show, told fans to go see it last month.

“Outlander” and “The Spy Who Dumped Me” actually have a connection. Lionsgate is the studio behind the film and the company owns Starz, the network that airs “Outlander.” Lionsgate is definitely hoping that the passionate “Outlander” fan base buys tickets for the new action comedy.

The projects are pretty different, though. “The Spy Who Dumped Me” focuses on Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon’s average characters whose lives are turned upside down when Kunis character’s ex-boyfriend turns out to be a spy. Heughan is one of the secret agents in the film, which is in theaters now.

“Outlander” follows the story of a World War II nurse who accidentally travels back to the 18th century and falls in love. The series will return to Starz in November for Season 4, which will take place in the U.S. Season 5 has already been ordered as well.
