KEY POINTS

  • "Outriders" has been experiencing technical issues since its launch
  • Players have reported constant frame rate drops and connectivity issues
  • People Can Fly and Square Enix are working to resolve the technical issues

Fans who were eagerly awaiting the full release of “Outriders” were disappointed when they encountered a myriad of performance issues with the full version of the game. Many players with high-end PCs have reported issues like frame rate drops and horrid stuttering, which are all exacerbated by server connectivity issues that caused minor progress loss.

Players still encountered these problems on release day despite a day-one patch that was meant to address performance issues. However, People Can Fly and their partners at Square Enix have already vowed to improve the game’s technical aspects.

The official “OutridersTwitter account regularly announces workarounds to known issues as well as the status of the server and ongoing improvements to the game’s systems.

A recent tweet implied that the “Outriders” servers have seen significant improvement in terms of capacity, as the game’s player count reached a new peak. Players should now be able to log in properly and experience less disconnection while in-game.

The game’s anticipated crossplay feature between PC and Console users is still out of commission, however. Joining a PC game via console or vice versa causes the host player to get kicked out of the session, PC Gamer has learned. Players are encouraged to refrain from using the crossplay feature until the issue is fixed.

People Can Fly is also looking into improving the game’s performance across the board. An issue with the DX12 version of the game has been found to be the cause of massive stuttering and frame rate drops in “Outriders” PC, according to the official issue tracking thread at Reddit. Running the game in DX11 mode should serve as a workaround to this problem until it gets properly fixed.

“Outriders” has received mixed reviews on Steam mostly due to the technical issues. Many players found the technical issues to be unacceptable considering how demanding the game’s system requirements are for Ultra settings.

Apart from the barrage of criticism regarding the game’s technical side, players have praised the game for its satisfying combat, intelligent AI and deep character building elements. However, some players have expressed their dismay over the game’s writing and loot power scaling.
