  • "New Horizon" introduced a slew of significant changes to the endgame loop of "Outriders"
  • Classes, mods and Legendary sets have been rebalanced
  • The new update includes four new Expeditions set in bespoke locations

The release of the “New Horizon” update for “Outriders” has brought the dusty looter shooter back to life thanks to a plethora of game-changing additions, fixes and adjustments that players have been clamoring for since launch.

Square Enix and People Can Fly recently went live with some “Outriders”-related news, putting the “New Horizon” update under the spotlight alongside the upcoming “Worldslayer” expansion that’s scheduled for next year. Many players have dropped the game over the last few months because of the lack of meaningful content and a few other frustrating issues, but the new free update aims to solve all of that.

At the core of the “New Horizon” update are four new endgame Expeditions set in unique locations around Enoch as well as some very important changes to how these activities pan out.

For starters, Expedition Timers have finally been removed, and the rewards for completing these missions have been changed to account for the timers’ removal. Players have been asking the developers to remove the timers since the early months of the game’s release as they force a DPS-focused meta that disregards literally every other build in the game.

Now that players can take a more leisurely stride across Enoch’s hostile zones, expect more builds to become viable as other players continue to tinker with buffed and reworked items.

Speaking of buffs and reworks, the playable have received several big changes over the past few months. The developers have abandoned the “nerf everything” approach and have decided to go all-in on the power fantasy of each class. Passive skill tree effects like Increased Anomaly Power or Increased Firepower now grant bigger bonuses, while the actual abilities across all classes received some significant upgrades to their functionalities.

Additionally, a number of weapon and armor mods as well as entire Legendary sets have been changed. This should be enough to provide a full refresh for players who dropped “Outriders” after the first major patch, as there’s plenty of new toys to play around with.

The “New Horizon” update has an extensive list of changes that summarizes every buff, nerf and rework since June. For the full list of changes, check out the official Reddit thread here.
