'Overwatch 2' Director Hinted At A New Hero; Two Other Heroes Apparently Leaked Accidentally
KEY POINTS
- "Overwatch 2" was announced November 2019
- The game is the sequel of the hit team-based multiplayer FPS title from Blizzard
- Game Director Jeff Kaplan recently teased about a new hero coming to "Overwatch 2"
Blizzard may not announce a new hero for "Overwatch 2" just yet, but Game Director Jeff Kaplan may have hinted about a new unique hero coming to the much-awaited sequel.
While some fans were disappointed that the team did not make any character reveal for BlizzCon's game, some eagle-eyed fans believe recent footage may have hinted at two new heroes that might join in the ranks soon.
New Dog Hero In "Overwatch 2"
In a recent interview with Gamespot, "Overwatch 2" Director Jeff Kaplan mentioned a "big dog moment coming up" in the sequel. What this means is obviously a mystery, and the director, like always, did not reveal a lot of details about this new pooch. So far, the only concrete detail about this new hero dog is that it is not Orisa's puppy but an entirely new dog that belongs to one of the game's heroes.
Kaplan did not say that the dog would be a playable hero, but at this point, it is too early to conclude on anything. Animal heroes are not new in "Overwatch," and characters like Wrecking Ball and Winston usually hype players.
Two New Heroes
Meanwhile, several fans claimed to discover a couple of new heroes that might be introduced in "Overwatch 2." On Reddit, user McManus 26 shared an image apparently showing bits of the Junker Queen t-posing in the background of the Behind the Scenes video shared during BlizzCon. The Junker Queen's gauntlet and an axe in the background seemingly suggest that she is in the game in some capacity.
The other new hero rumored to arrive in "Overwatch 2" is Soundquake. Still, on Reddit, user Youngstown_Mafia said that he "believe[s] Soundquake is coming to Overwatch 2. The robot on top is from the Behind The Scenes footage and might be based off his model," he added. While the resemblance is striking, it is hard to conclude at this point if there is actually something to this and the Reddit user was clear that his' was just a speculation.
"Overwatch 2" is currently in development. The game was announced for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
