'Overwatch 2' Guide: How To Play Wrecking Ball
KEY POINTS
- Wrecking Ball is great for disrupting and splitting up enemy teams
- This hero relies on building momentum before smashing into enemies
- Wrecking Ball can easily dive the back and take out important healers
Wrecking Ball is one of the more mechanically-demanding heroes in "Overwatch 2's" roster. Hammond the Hamster and his snarky metal ball are capable of wreaking havoc in the enemy's backlines as one of the most mobile tank characters in the game.
Learning how to play Wrecking Ball is difficult, but anyone who has played with grappling hooks in any game should be able to use this hero relatively easily.
Wrecking Ball Changes
First, old "Overwatch" players should know that Wrecking Ball is much tankier now. Apart from the flat increases to his HP and base armor, the health-per-enemy gained from his Adaptive Shield is now 100 instead of 75.
Additionally, Wrecking Ball's Roll knockback is now 36% stronger.
Wrecking Ball Guide 2022
This hero is all about disruption. Wrecking Ball's entire kit revolves around using momentum to knock enemies backward or up into the air before finishing them off with twin machine guns.
The first thing players need to master is how to use the Grappling Hook ability. Take a few games to get used to how the ball handles when swinging. Then, use the hook to slam into enemies directly or follow it up with Piledriver to send enemies up into the air.
Piledriver is Wrecking Ball's strongest source of burst damage. Use it whenever it is available.
One thing to keep in mind is to always keep rolling. Only deploy to help burn down shields or pick off exposed enemies. Wrecking Ball should always be looking for ways to disrupt the enemy, not deal damage.
Wrecking Ball Tips
Minefield is best used to split an enemy team or cut off their escape. They can still be dropped mid-fight, but make sure to use it to deny the objective area.
Don't worry about healing too much. Wrecking Ball has an absurd amount of HP, thanks to Adaptive Shield. Just make sure to play around with this ability's cooldown and always keep moving to avoid taking lethal damage.
Grappling Hook can be used on the ground for a burst of movement speed. This is often enough to quickly boop enemies off ledges and objectives.
Lastly, always dive into the enemy backline. Wrecking Ball can quickly assassinate a healer with Piledriver and primary weapon fire.
