'Overwatch 2' Heroes: How To Play Bastion
Bastion received some substantial reworks to his kit and overall identity that greatly changed how he's meant to be used in the grander scheme of things in "Overwatch 2."
Like Doomfist and Orisa, the scope of Bastion's changes is enough to warrant a fresh new look on his playstyle.
"Overwatch 2" Bastion Changes
The most notable change in Bastion's kit is the integration of his old Configuration: Tank ultimate into his sentry gun mode. Now, Bastion is able to use his rotary cannon while moving, although the ability now runs on a timer.
His ultimate has since been replaced with Configuration: Artillery, which launches three explosive shells wherever players deem necessary.
Additionally, Bastion can no longer repair himself. This has since been replaced with the A-36 Tactical Grenade skill that can bounce off walls or attach to enemies before exploding.
"Overwatch 2" Bastion Guide
As a DPS hero, Bastion's main job is to deal damage and secure kills on enemies. His main weapon fires slowly but deals high damage per hit. However, his biggest DPS source is still his minigun, which can only be used while in Configuration: Assault is active.
Bastion is more flexible now compared to the first game. With a reliable primary weapon and a decent secondary firing mode in the form of his new grenade skill, he can pump out damage similar to how someone like Soldier 76 can.
The minigun can shred any enemy in seconds. It is especially useful against tanks like Reinhardt since armor is inherently less effective against rapid-fire weapons now compared to the original "Overwatch." Just aim for the head and let the minigun rip.
- Artillery Tip: Fire the three shots in a line to maximize the odds of hitting moving targets
Positioning remains essential to Bastion's success, though. His hitbox is much larger compared to other heroes in his class, and despite his massive, armored 300-point health pool, he can still be taken out relatively easily.
Pick Bastion when facing armored tanks like Orisa and Reinhardt or if the enemy has a Pharah or Echo as his minigun is extremely effective against these targets. But do be careful if an enemy has a Roadhog since Bastion is a prime target for Chain Hook plays.
