'Overwatch 2' Ramattra Abilities: What We Know So Far
KEY POINTS
- Ramattra alternates between a ranged poke mode and his hyper-aggressive melee Nemesis Form
- He gains a massive survivability boost when in melee mode
- Ramattra will be released alongside "Overwatch 2's" second season
The upcoming tank hero for "Overwatch 2" was recently revealed during the OWL finals, and so far, he's shaping up to be a very significant character from both lore and gameplay perspectives.
Ramattra, as explained in his short reveal trailer, is the leader of Null Sector, a faction of omnic extremists who are fighting for their right to exist. Though built for war, he only longed for his people to leave peacefully, but his attempts to secure safety for his fellow omnics were all shot down by discriminative humans.
As Null Sector's supreme commander, Ramattra charges into battle with the ability to both protect allies and terrorize enemies. Here's what is known so far about his kit and his role in "Overwatch 2."
Ramattra's Abilities
Ramattra, similar to Bastion, has two forms. By default, he uses his normal omnic state where he wields a staff that uses energy attacks to damage enemies from afar. The developers said this base form is also designed for assisting poke comps. This might see Ramattra as a mid-long-range tank when in this state.
Toggling his transformation ability converts Ramattra to his Nemesis Form, where he turns into a close-ranged brawler with melee attacks and significantly improved survivability. The sheer bulk he gains from this form makes him an easier target, but he gains a large chunk of armor and a block ability, which looks somewhat similar to Doomfist's Power Block, according to a Reddit leak.
Little is known about his ultimate, but the devs teased that it has a very impactful ability. Additionally, hero designer Alec Dawson said that Ramattra's ability remains the same in either of his modes, but it will automatically transform the omnic into his Nemesis Form if he isn't in it already.
Ramattra involves more decision-making than most of the other heroes since switching stances gives him wildly different playstyles.
Ramattra Release Date
As the poster hero for "Overwatch 2's" second season, Ramattra is expected to become playable by December. However, due to the changes in account progression, players will have to manually unlock Ramattra by reaching level 55 in the battle pass.
Players who opt to purchase the battle pass will automatically unlock him regardless of their current level.
