‘Overwatch’ Holiday Event Release Date Revealed After Christmas Track Leak
Blizzard Entertainment just released its invite for “Overwatch” players to take part in the game’s holiday event. In time for Christmas, the developer is once again launching a new event just like what it did with previous seasonal events.
Announcing the good news on Twitter, Blizzard shared a GIF of an invitation to the in-game holiday event this December. “It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we hope you’ll join us for some holiday cheer!” the note inside the invitation reads, according to DualShockers. Also provided in the invitation are the details on when and where this event will take place. Obviously, the event is set to happen in-game. As to when it will go live, Blizzard stated “December 13, 2016” in the card, so players should mark their calendars so as not to miss the event.
“Overwatch” is a new game, given that it was released just May of this year. However, the team-based multiplayer first-person shooter was quickly catapulted to fame thanks to the numerous fans who patronized it since day one. As part of the celebrations for its success, Blizzard has decided to host various seasonal events. Because the Christmas holiday season is here, the developer has prepared another holiday event that fans will surely enjoy.
Blizzard’s announcement and confirmation of the holiday event come almost two weeks after an “Overwatch” Christmas themed track was discovered by a player who data mined the latest update for the game. The player quickly shared his discovery via Reddit. You can check out a part of the leaked track here.
No other details about the Christmas event are currently available. However, PC Gamer believes that the event could simply bring in presents like new character skins, voice lines, cosmetics and emotes, knowing that these were the things that were introduced by previous themed events.
The “Game of the Year” winner at this year’s The Game Awards 2016 is still available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.
