'Overwatch' Season 4 End Date: When Will Competitive Play Take A Break?[UPDATE: Season 5 Start Date]
UPDATE: Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch game director, posted this on the Blizzard forums:
Season 4 will come to a close towards the end of May. The Competitive Play card will update with a timer later in the month with the exact time. Season 5 should start around the first of June.
It’s nearly that time of year, when all the Overwatch players of the world storm the servers to farm as much SR before the season ends. The fourth season of Overwatch’s Competitive Play ranked system is almost at an end, so start queuing up.
Overwatch Season 4 ends on May 16 at 1 to 3 p.m. EST. Ranked seasons are usually eleven-weeks long, but Blizzard can change their mind and prolong or shorten it as they see fit. Will be the end of May.
Like every season, you get an icon and spray for playing, this time of the gorgeous trees of Hanamura. If you manage to get into the top 500 players in the world, you get a special moving spray that I wish I was good enough at the game to get. You’ll only get the rewards if you managed to stay at the top of the ladder before the season ends, which isn’t easy now that Overwatch SR points decay over time if you're ranked diamond or above.
Here’s the breakdown of how much CP, which you can use to get golden guns, you’ll get from achieving each rank:
SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 100 CP
SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 200 CP
SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 400 CP
SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 800 CP
SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 1200 CP
SR 3500-3999 (Master): 2000 CP
SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 3000 CP
If you haven’t yet started your 10 placement matches, I recommend starting them now. You don’t want to wait until the last possible week, only to have crazy kids desperate for those last minute wins to jump into your games.
