Ozzy Osbourne opened up about the incident when he attempted to kill wife Sharon Osbourne decades ago in his documentary "Biography: Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne."
The couple recalled the incident when the "Crazy Train" singer had a blackout and almost killed his wife.
"[It was] not exactly one of my greatest achievements," Ozzy said in the documentary that premiered on A&E on Monday, as quoted by Us Weekly.
"I felt the calmest I had ever felt in my life. I was just peaceful. … All I remember is waking up in Amersham jail and I asked the cop, ‘Why am I here?’ And he says, ‘You want me to read your charge?’ So he read, ‘John Michael Osbourne, you have been arrested for attempted murder.’"
Ozzy had no recollection of the incident that happened the night before he woke up in jail.
Sharon said she couldn't recognize her husband at the time because of the drugs.
"I had no idea who was sat across from me on the sofa but it wasn’t my husband. He goes to a stage where he gets that look in his eyes, the shutters were down and I just couldn’t get through to him. And he just said, ‘We’ve come to a decision that you’ve got to die," Sharon said.
"He was calm — very calm — then suddenly he lunged across at me and just dived on me and started to choke me. He got me down on the ground on top of me."
Sharon tried to grab some stuff on the table and felt the panic button and pressed it. The next thing she saw, the cops were around.
Ozzy spent six months in medical detention. Meanwhile, Sharon decided to keep their marriage. "The Talk" co-host was thankful that the judge put her husband in treatment for six months because at the time she didn't know what Ozzy should do.
"I told him, ‘I don’t want the money… but if you do this again, either I am going to kill you or you are going to kill me. And do you want that for the kids?’" Sharon shared.
The incident happened in 1989. In a previous interview, following the release of his autobiography "I Am Ozzy," he spoke about his regrets over the incident when asked about the proudest and most shameful moments in his life.
"I regret trying to kill Sharon. It wasn’t my plan to go out, get p-ssed, try to strangle her and wake up in jail. My best moment was being successful on my own after Black Sabbath. And having my kids. And getting sober," Ozzy told Mirror.
