P. Diddy Decides To Change Name To Brother Love: Find Out Why
People’s personalities evolve as they grow older, so they change their sense of style, their lifestyles, and even their nicknames along the way. Rapper P. Diddy is no exception.
In his latest evolution, the “I’ll Be Missing You” hitmaker announced that he is going by a new nickname - Love or Brother Love.
“I have some very serious news,” the rapper said on Twitter. “I’ve been praying on this and… I knew it was risky, ’cause it could come off as corny to some people, [but] I decided to change my name again… I’m just not who I am before. I’m something different. So my new name is Love, a.k.a. Brother Love. I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy, or any of my other monikers but Love or Brother Love.”
According to Forbes, P. Diddy, or rather Brother Love’s new name can be attributed to the upcoming release of his sixth, and possibly final, studio album called No Way Out 2. It’s slated for a December release.
Back in 1997, Brother Love released his debut single “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” under the name Puff Daddy. He changed his name to P. Diddy in 2001 when he released the album The Saga Continues. He dropped the “P” from his name in 2005, a year before he released “Press Play.” The rapper changed his mind once again in 2014 when he took on the moniker Puff Daddy.
With his new album along the way, Brother Love just might maintain his status as the richest hip-hop artist. He topped Forbes’ Richest in Hip Hop of 2017 list with a total net worth of $820 million, thanks to his deals with Ciroc, Aquahydrate, DeLeon. His income was also boosted further because of his stake in the TV network Revolt.
Brother Love is closely followed by Jay Z, who has a net worth of $810 million. Aside from them, other millionaire rappers include the likes of Dr. Dre with a net worth of $740 million, Birdman with $110 million, and Drake with a net worth of $90 million.
