Pacquiao Tired Of Floyd: Fan Believes Jr. Deliberately Avoiding Second Meeting
In an interview with the Manila Bulletin, Gibbons said that he has already told Floyd that Sen. Pacquiao is not fighting an exhibition."
When Floyd Mayweather Jr. said that he was planning to fight Manny Pacquiao on an "exhibition" match, the Filipino champ's camp quickly said, "no."
The eight-time division champion has vehemently declared that he wants a "real boxing match," adding that he isn't a fan of Floyd's recent shenanigans.
On Saturday (PHT), the camp of Pacquiao cleared all the rumors about the possible rematch, with Sean Gibbons (president of MP Promotions) acting as the Philippine senator's spokesman.
In an interview with the Manila Bulletin, Gibbons said that he has already told Floyd that Sen. Pacquiao is not fighting an exhibition."
Mayweather trended a few weeks ago when he offered to fight "Pacman" in an exhibition match in Tokyo, in what it seems like a nonsensical demand from the American boxer.
Since defeating fellow American Keith Thurman on July, Manny has tested the rematch waters by persuading Mayweather to meet him for #MayPac2.
Instead, Jr. has insulted Manny with slurs, saying that the Filipino icon has been riding in "his coattail" for his entire career. Floyd has even told Gibbons recently that he knows that Pacquiao will "just move around the ring."
In his defense, Gibbons said in the interview on Saturday that his boss is "not doing that," adding that he "is coming off one of his biggest wins against Thurman."
Pacquiao is recently on an impressive run despite being 40. He has won five out of his six bouts; his only loss came from a contentious decision against Australian Jeff Horn in 2017.
He recently triumphed against a younger, undefeated champion in the name of Keith Thurman. The American pugilist fought bravely in the middle rounds after being knocked out in the first but came short when Manny rallied in the late rounds.
Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather is currently retired; he fought against a small Japanese kickboxer and knocked him out in less than 90-seconds on December 31, 2018.
The year prior, his fight against Tenshin Nasukawa, Jr. also faced former UFC champion, Conor McGregor. The undisputed welterweight champ quickly conquered the Irishman resulting in a 10th round stoppage by TKO.
Gibbons noted that Manny isn't a fan of Floyd's antics. He added that in December, or before Pacman's birthday on December 17), "we would already know what's down the road."
In the meantime, several of Manny's supporters think that Floyd is "trying to outsmart manny and the fight fans." The commenter added that Floyd is doing "whatever it takes to avoid a second meeting."
For boxing fans, it is becoming a frustrating situation.
