Pacquiao vs. Thurman Update: Pacquiao Shows Off 'Frighteningly Fast' Hands
Manny Pacquiao recently showed off his “frighteningly fast” hands during a training session ahead of his fight against Keith Thurman.
WBA welterweight champion Thurman should probably be mindful of what he says to the Filipino boxing legend ahead of their upcoming bout. Just recently, Fight Hub TV uploaded a video of Pacquiao during a training session in which he showed off his “frighteningly fast” moves as he warmed up for more intense training.
The video no doubt proved that the handspeed of Pacquiao is still there as he shadowboxed inside the ring. The same goes for his footwork as Pacquiao can also be seen showing off his skills while changing directions and working on his angles.
While some may doubt if the power Pacquiao used to retire several champions in the past is still there, another video was also uploaded by Fight Hub TV back in May which intended to make viewers think twice before concluding who the stronger fighter is between Pacquiao and Thurman. In the short clip, Pacquiao and Thurman can both be seen hitting a heavy bag while in the gym. Evidently, the older fighter seems to carry way more power in his hands compared to the younger champ.
Pacquiao’s longtime coach and trainer, Freddie Roach, even commented that Thurman “hits like a girl” compared to Pacquiao who hits like a veteran boxer in the video clip.
At 40 years old, Pacquiao is still deadly and the type of fighter that should not be taken for granted. Some of the boxing icon’s past opponents, Ricky Hatton and Erik Morales, who are former world boxing champions as well, are also convinced that Pacquiao will be able to beat Thurman despite their 10-year age difference.
Both Hatton and Morales previously picked Pacquiao as the winner in a fight against Thurman. Morales, being one of the few fighters to defeat Pacquiao during his prime, even predicted that his former rival will be able to knock Thurman out in 10 rounds.
Hatton also said he believes that Pacquiao will win against a younger fighter as he has already proven that in his past fights with younger fighters as well.
However, Thurman remains confident ahead of the biggest fight of his career. Since the fight was officially announced, the 30-year-old champ has been trash-talking the legend. Pacquiao, meanwhile, seems to have had enough of the talking and said that “they can bring Thurman anytime” and he will face him, Boxing Scene reported.
