The Palm Pixie was unveiled on Wednesday, just ahead of Apples big music event 09/09/09 and one of the main distinct differences the Pixie has compared to its predecessor, the Palm Pre, is that it has a full qwerty keyboard.

Here are some other key features of the Palm Pixie:

  • The Pixie features a 2 megapixel camera, rather than the Pre's 3 megapixel
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP
  • 8GB of internal memory
  • 2.63 inch multi-touch screen with 320 x 400 pixels
  • A gesture area below the display, enabling intuitive gestures for navigation
  • Accelerometer
  • Proximity sensor, light sensor
  • EVDO Rev. A connectivity
  • GPS
  • Desktop-class web browser
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP
  • MicroUSB connector
  • Qualcomm MSM7627 chipset
  • 8GB of internal memory
  • 1150 mAh battery

Sprint has not yet released any official details as to when the Palm Pixie will be available to purchase. One thing that is for sure is that the Palm Pixie will be cheaper than the Palm Pre - probably because the WiFi service has been dropped, along with the camera quality.
