The new Palm Pre cellular phone can be seen in New York

The Palm Pre 2 will be released on Verizon Wireless February 17th, Engadget reports.The story shows an image of a third-party retailer's internal product page.

Palm Pre Central wrote a similar story, listing the Palm Pre 2's price as $199 after rebate with a two-year service plan. Their source is what looks like a retailer's internal page from a retailer or carrier.

The successor to the Palm Pre Plus, The Palm Pre 2 was announced in Oct. 2010. A GSM unlocked version of the device was made available by Hewitt-Packard in November 2010.

Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney said she could not confirm the rumors.

The Palm Pre 2's release would come soon after HP's recently-announced Feb. 9 San Francisco event, where the company is expected to announce a number of new products.
