Pamela Anderson Says Gaining 25 Pounds While Writing Memoir Felt Like 'Protection'
Pamela Anderson disclosed that she gained 25 pounds while writing her upcoming memoir, "Love, Pamela." She shared that the gained weight felt like "my puffy suit of armor," which was "some kind of protection."
The 55-year-old actress explained that she wrote this memoir without the help of any ghost-writer or collaborator, instead she finished the book by herself. However, the process did take a toll on her health as she gained weight but did manage to reduce those extra pounds after finishing the memoir.
"It was crazy, but I had a physical reaction to telling my story," she said on Wednesday episode of "The Howard Stern Show." "It was almost like I was hanging on to something — It was a protective... my puffy suit of armor. I don't know what it was — I was thinking it was some kind of protection."
Anderson went on to explain that she is not sure what caused the weight gain as she is vegan and wasn't eating any different.
"My body was changing," she said. "I thought well, maybe, I'm just getting old and this is it and I was walking around in caftans, I mean I looked ridiculous."
The actress shared that at one point her mother, Carol Anderson questioned why she isn't showing her figure anymore.
"I just felt like, 'What figure?' You know, I was just kind of joking," she added. "I was a mess at that time, so I kind of liked that I peeled back everything: No makeup, nothing like that, and I thought, 'You know what? If you like me like this — if you like me at my worst, maybe you like me."
During the interview, Anderson also addressed the Hulu series, "Pam & Tommy," based on her infamous sex tape with her ex-husband, Tommy Lee. The former couple was married from 1995 to 1998.
The actress claimed she had no clue about the series until it was publicly teased. "I remember seeing this 'Pam & Tommy' thing on Hulu, or some advertisement for it, and I thought, 'What the hell is this?'" she said. "No one called me, no one asked me. I'm still alive!"
