Pamela Anderson’s Malibu Beach House is this winter’s Hottest Rental
Looking for a luxurious winter escape? How about renting Pamela Anderson's Malibu beach house!
The Canadian star's three-bedroom, pet-friendly Malibu beach home may just be this winter's hottest holiday rental.
The former Baywatch actress listed her beach-front property on the website Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO), one of a growing number of sites that seek to help homeowners lease their vacant dwellings. The website lists her property for $20,000 a week or $75,000 a month.
I'm traveling so much these days and am enjoying a lot more time in my native Canada with my family, Anderson writes. I'm finally willing to share my masterpiece - what I've co-created with a handful of green architects and designers/inspired by my favorite architect Lautner.
This is my humble stab at perfection, she says. It's a magical spot.
Anderson's luxury eco-friendly pad is located in a gated community in the Malibu Colony. It boasts water views, private access to the world-famous Surfrider Beach, a garden with figs, avocados, and seasonal vegetables, as well as a custom-integrated video, lighting, music and security system controlled by iPad touch panels.
With its hefty price tag, the place also comes with several fireplaces, a charcoal barbecue, a wet bar and a saltwater pool. The home features a two-car garage, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. It comfortably sleeps 4-6 people with lots of room to move around, but an authentic Native American wigwam in the backyard can be used as guest accommodation.
The rental is also very pet-friendly.
Of course, pets are allowed to bring their owners ... as long as they're house trained! Anderson writes.
Partially designed by Anderson herself, the luxury pad comes with housekeeping and a highly recommended vegetarian chef option.
Anderson's masterpiece did not come easy. Back in 2009, the star was the subject of multiple reports of alleged financial woes after she relocated to a mobile home in Malibu's famed Paradise Cove trailer park while construction continued on her mansion. Reports also surfaced of unpaid bills and multiple disputes with contractors during the renovation of her eco-friendly abode.
While Anderson is not the first celebrity to rent out her home for additional income, she is one of the highest-profile personalities to enter into the short-term rental market - and she's doing it without any pretense of anonymity.
VRBO charges homeowners to post photos and descriptions of their properties. It's the owner's responsibility to manage the leasing transaction. Other vacation rental sites function somewhat differently, often providing tenant screening and a more active management of the property. In return, they receive a percentage of the rental fee.
