Paramore's long-awaited comeback is here, but new music isn't the only thing they had in store for fans.
In an interview with The Guardian published Thursday to promote their new single "This Is Why" and forthcoming album of the same name, lead vocalist Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York confirmed that they are dating.
The couple declined to share more details, so it's unclear when the relationship started.
The revelation came after more than two years of dating rumors, which were sparked upon the release of the 33-year-old singer's solo album "Petals for Armor," produced entirely by York, in 2020.
Williams admitted to Pitchfork at the time that the track "Crystal Clear," which samples Rusty Williams' "Friends or Lovers," was about "falling in love."
"Falling in love. Emphasis on the falling—because despite my fear, my toughness, or any resistance to vulnerability, I couldn't help falling in love," Williams told the outlet of the song.
After the pair confirmed they're in a relationship, Paramore fans couldn't help but express their excitement on social media.
"I don't really care about real-life people's relationships, but Hayley Williams and Taylor York dating has slightly restored my faith in love," one user wrote on Twitter.
Another commented, "Now that Taylor York and Hayley Williams [are] finally confirmed to be dating, I need to sit down and bawl over petals for armor again y'all."
"The fact that when I was like 15 and obsessed with Paramore, I used to ship Hayley Williams and Taylor York so bad, and now they finally confirmed they're together... My heart is so full. The only straight couple with rights!" a third user said.
Paramore now consists of three members, Williams, York, and Zac Farro, 32, after several changes in their line-up. The band, which debuted in 2004, originally included former members Josh Farro and Jeremy Davis, who left in 2010 and 2015, respectively.
York joined in 2007 while working on the release of the band's second studio album "Riot," according to People.
The band's most well-known tracks include "Misery Business," "Hard Times," "Ain't it Fun" and "The Only Exception."
Williams was previously married to New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert. The former couple dated for eight years before tying the knot in 2016, but a year later, they announced their breakup in a since-deleted Instagram post, saying that "marriage is not for the faint of heart."
"The two of us have been together for the better part of 10 years. We've grown up together and we've been beside each other through a lot of goodness and a lot of challenges," the former couple said, according to People. "There is a challenge to trying to understand your own heart in the context of a relationship... and there is goodness in considering another heart, even in spite of your own. Marriage is not for the faint of heart. Love is an absolute risk. And it's up to each of us to stay hopeful even when the outcome isn't what we'd originally hoped for."
They continued, "Love is an absolute risk. We want to publicly state — plainly, and only this time — that we are splitting up. We also feel it's important to state that we are going to be okay and in fact, we remain close friends who are good in each other's eyes."
Williams revealed her regrets about marrying Gilbert in an op-ed for Paper Magazine in 2018.
"I shouldn't have ever married my ex and that love is not something we can just extract from one other," she wrote, adding that writing the album "After Laughter" made her realize that and she "opened her heart to healing."
"This Is Why," Paramore's sixth studio album, is set to be released on Feb. 10, 2023.
