Houston, Texas -- Police in Texas arrived at a home in Houston to find all four members of a family with stab wounds.

The family members — a mother, father and their two adult children — were found wielding knives when cops arrived at the house on Regional Park Drive, which is around 16 miles north of downtown Houston.

Officials said the altercation started off between the siblings Sunday night and then escalated after the parents got involved, Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the son, Manuel Alfredo Gutierrez, was intoxicated when he came home that night. Gutierrez had a gun on him and picked up a fight with his sister, according to Click2Houston.

When the scuffle turned physical, the mother and father tried to intervene and break up the fight. Gonzalez said the family members managed to get the weapon out of the adult son’s hands; however, the fight continued.

Each family member eventually armed themselves and grabbed knives, KHOU 11 reported.

Gonzalez said the violence continued between the family members.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office received reports about a family disturbance and arrived at the scene at around 10:49 p.m.

All four of the family members were found wielding knives and were taken to the hospital with stab wounds, the sheriff’s office said. They are expected to survive.

“It appears an adult male returned home intoxicated and armed with a pistol,” Gonzalez said in a statement on Twitter. “The male got into a verbal argument with his sister. The male was disarmed of his pistol, while mom & dad intervened attempting to break things up. Things escalated into a physical altercation with everyone obtaining knives. Each sustained injuries each is expected to survive.”

Gutierrez was charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault in connection with the incident. “It appears Gutierrez has been out on bond on a previous felony,” he added.

In an unrelated incident reported in June, a 15-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her brother as they fought over a PlayStation. The victim, aged 16, ran out of the apartment complex with stab wounds and was eventually pronounced dead at the hospital. Cops arrested the teenage sister and charged her with murder.
