Party At Demi Moore’s House Ends In Tragedy; Man Apparently Drowned In Pool
It was a sad Sunday morning when authorities were called in about a man drowning in Demi Moore’s backyard pool. Moore is reportedly in shock over the news and sympathizes with the young man’s family and friends. Reports from law enforcement and sources also revealed that a limited amount of alcohol was present during the party and that the man who drowned did not know how to swim.
The 21-year old man was found dead in Moore’s pool early Sunday morning, TMZ reported. Sources told TMZ there was a small party at the house, although Moore was not present. A neighbor told TMZ that the star’s children have been throwing parties "every day, day and night."
Another source said Moore’s caretaker threw a party and that there was “limited” alcohol during the gathering. The caretaker and other guests reportedly left the victim behind and found the man at the bottom of the pool upon their return. It seems the victim did not know how to swim and slipped into the pool.
In a statement issued to People, the 52-year-old actress expressed her sadness over the news. "I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country, traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration, when I got this devastating news,” Moore said. "The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time."
Police told People that Moore’s assistant was present when the body was found. A Los Angeles Police Department officer told the magazine that initial findings indicate the cause of death was drowning. Police were awaiting results of a toxicology report.
Police identified the victim as Edenilson Steven Valle, the Los Angeles Times reported. Officers were dispatched to Moore’s property at 5:20 a.m. When they arrived, they saw the man being treated by paramedics, the LAPD said. Friends and family of the young man told the police that Valle had been missing for 10 to 15 minutes and did not know how to swim. The LAPD said Valle may have been a staff member at the house.
Moore’s daughter, Scout Willis, turned 24 years old Monday. Scout's younger sister, Tallulah Belle, has been taking to social media to share their weekend celebrations. Moore’s eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, was seen Friday at Los Angeles International Airport, and has been travelling with the “Dancing with the Stars: Live! Perfect Ten Tour.”
