Multiple news sources are reporting that Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of action film star and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, will be following in his father's footsteps.

According to OnTheRedCarpet.com, the young Schwarzenegger is gearing up to play a role opposite Twilight star Taylor Lautner in Grown Ups 2.

The movie is the second installment to the 2010 comedy starring Adam Sandler about a group of childhood friends who orchestrate a reunion.

The website is reporting that Schwarzenegger and Lautner will portray frat boys along with Jimmy Tatro, Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie and Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia.

The role was pretty much confirmed when Schwarzenegger took to Twitter in an effort to give an update on how the movie shoot was going.

Amazing first day on Grown Ups 2 with my frat brothas @jimmytatro @davidhenrie so happy to be part of this, Schwarzenegger Tweeted on July 5.

While news of his participation in the movie with Taylor Lautner broke, insiders gasped at the possibility of an on-set feud. Schwarzenegger was recently seen celebrating Independence Day at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts with pop singer Taylor Swift, who happens to be Taylor Lautner's ex-girlfriend.

Lautner was romantically linked to singer Taylor Swift for three months in 2009 after the couple appeared in the movie Valentine's Day together. Swift's single Back to December is reportedly about her relationship with the Twilight star.

Schwarzenegger and Swift sparked rumors of romance after being photographed hugging each other. The 22-year-old singer is reportedly close to Schwarzenegger's mother, who is a Kennedy family member.

So far there has been no report of on-set conflicts while Grown Ups 2 has been in production.

The movie, which also stars Salma Hayek and Andy Samberg, is due out July 2013
