Pennsylvania Convention Center Attack: Hummer Planned To Crash Into Vote Count Location

An attempt to attack the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where election ballots were being counted, has been thwarted by Philadelphia police.

After a tip to local police, a group that had driven from Virginia in a silver Hummer had allegedly planned to attack the convention center on Thursday evening, WPVI, an ABC affiliate out of Philadelphia reported.

Two men were arrested and transferred to Central Detectives, WPVI said. The two men were heavily armed, WKYW, a CBS affiliate out of Philadelphia, reported. Multiple guns were also found inside the vehicle, police told the news outlet.

The Hummer, which was still sitting on the street as of Friday early morning, had a window sticker for the conspiracy theory internet group QAnon, which has been labeled by the FBI as a domestic terror threat, WPVI said.

As of Friday morning, it was unclear how many people were connected to the incident.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center ballot-counting location has seen tensions rise as both Trump and Biden supporters protested on Thursday. Pennsylvania is a hotly contested state that both Biden and Trump are counting on to swing the election in their favor.

As of early morning on Friday, the convention center had about 50,000 ballots left to count, WKYW reported. The winner of Pennsylvania would receive 20 electoral votes.
