A Pennsylvania woman pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and robbery charges against her stepmother.
29-year-old Tosha Mae Daley admitted to her role in the murder of her 46-year-old stepmother, Jamie Daley, who was found stabbed and fatally beaten to death on Dec. 8, 2017 in the front yard of her house.
According to The New York Post, even though Daley admitted to planning the robbery which led to her stepmother’s death, she denied that it was a murder-for-hire plot.
Nicholas Shinn, 24, who was Daley’s boyfriend at the time of the crime said in an affidavit that Dale offered him $30,000 to “whack her mom” and that Daley was the one to drive him to the victim’s Greene Township home and handed him a knife when he arrived, US News reported.
Shinn added that Daley’s motive for the crime included a disagreement on a repossessed car, among other frequent arguments.
Daley denied Shinn’s statements and said that she and Shinn only planned to rob the home and tried to call the victim to warn her.
Daley will spend 30 to 60 years in state prison while Shinn started serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to charges of first-degree murder in October.
